Must Do Jouvert for 2012 Trinidad Carnival!

You can’t experience Trinidad Carnival without participating in jouvert! After too many sleep deprived days, too much food from trying to get your money’s worth at all inclusive events, on the verge of alcohol poisoning again from the all inclusive fetes, you drag your weary body to jouvert and cover it in paint and mud. Sounds like torture? But it’s probably the most liberating fun you’ll have at Trinidad Carnival!

You must do jouvert and here is my recommendation:

As the name implies, yes, you’re covered in silver mud. What I like about Silver is that they have a pre-jouvert party, beginning at midnight, with a premium bar. You’ll be sleep deprived but that’s Trinidad Carnival. Apparently there will be licensed masseuses at the pre-party – I know where I’ll be first! But I would love a massage before and after jouvert. Silver Mudders theme this year is Seduction Too and the cost is approximately USD$83 (TT$500). There really isn’t a costume, just a t-shirt mud and paint. Silver Mudders pride themselves on their premium bar and security. Registration begins soon.

Last year one reviewer said, “The last two years I've played with Silver Mudders and had a blast. Drinks were always flowing and they give you saltfish and bake and corn soup afterwards. My crew was 22 people deep last year. We had a bess (sic) time”!
